Time Recoil, reminds me of a mix between the gameplay of Mr. Shifty and somewhere along the lines of the Butterfly Effect for the story.  If any of those strikes an interest in your mind, then it’s something you should check out.

Time Recoil is a top-down shooter where you kill to slow time, enter slow motion gunfights, and gain special moves.  The story has you traveling back into the past to either kill certain people, rescue them, gain intel or etc.  All of this has effects on the present day that you are trying to change for the better.

The story somehow took me out of the gameplay by having to travel back to the future to really gain anything from the story.  It was quick breaks in between the great gameplay that often times frustrated me enough to just click through the dialogue to get back to the action.

The action, oh boy, is where it’s at.  If you are fans of games such as Hotline Miami or Mr. Shifty, then this will be a game to add to that line up.  Whether you’re busting through walls like you would in Mr. Shifty or gunning down enemies similar to Hotline Miami, there wasn’t a moment where I wasn’t grinning.

The gameplay of this game, is a reason enough to buy this game at it’s cheap price of $13.99.  The story, while it tries to do something interesting, only slowed down the pace of the game.  If you’re looking for a great top-down shooter, then check this out!
