By Walter Boley

Around this time of year in gaming, I always enjoy the opportunity to look forward and see what the next year holds in store for me.  2015 was the first year where I looked at the video game releases scheduled, and found myself speechless.  I don’t think my bank account is ready for the perfect storm of releases that is occurring, so to help wrap my head around this, I’ve decided to try and pick my top 5 most anticipated games for 2015.

    5. Star Wars: Battlefront

It has been some time since I last played Star Wars Battlefront 2, but I have so many fond memories.  In my imagination I’m picturing Heroes vs. Villains mode on next gen consoles.  Or massive 32+ player battles on Hoth, complete with AT-ATs and Snowspeeders, on next gen consoles. I should stop now before I start drooling into my keyboard.  While the game doesn’t have a set release date beyond “2015”, It is a game that I will not be taking my eyes off of.

    4. Mortal Kombat X

A game with a much more defined release date of April 14, this game can’t come soon enough.  As a self proclaimed fighting game connoisseur, and Mortal Kombat being one of the top tier fighting game franchises, my hype speaks for itself.  Until this release date I will be listening to “MOOORRTAAAL KOMBBBAAAATTT” at least once a day.

    3. Batman: Arkham Knight

Due for release June 2nd 2015, Rocksteady’s swan song for Batman has peaked the interest of my inner nerd in a way that few games can.  Batman, check. Batmobile, check. Brand new villain that has the potential to be as badass as Batman?! Check.  I am foaming at the mouth waiting to see what Rocksteady has planned for their final Batman. Any game that makes me type “Batman” as many times as I just did is worth my time.

    2. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Due for release on May 19th, 2015, to recap, That is Mortal Kombat X on April 14th, this game on May 19th, and Arkham Knight on June 2nd.  I am not a rich man, and out of my top 5 most anticipated, three of them are very close to each other.  I digress.  The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was very close to being my number one, the “Wild Hunt” is an event that has been alluded to in the past Witcher games that will finally come to fruition here.  The intricate story and excellent writing, coupled with the incredible choice and consequence systems of past games, places this game on a very high pedestal that I’m sure it will live up to.

    Honorable Mention

Bloodborne: The main reason this game didn’t make my list is that I’m not sure if I’ll have a PS4 by the time the game releases.  Make no mistake, this is a game that I am very excited for.
Battlefield Hardline: As excited as I am for this game, it is tempered by the shoddy release of Battlefield 4, if the game launches smoothly, you better believe I’ll be picking it up.
Star Fox Wii U: With so many great games launching, some just didn’t make the top 5 cut.  I have faith that Nintendo will continue their hot streak with great exclusives when this game launches, speaking of Nintendo exclusives….

    1. The Legend of Zelda (Wii U)

The full title of this game is currently unknown, the release date is currently unknown.  Although if I had to speculate I would say just in time for the holiday season, so November sometime.  The only thing I really know about this game is that I am buying it as soon as it comes out.  The game preview at the Video Game Awards sold my already ironclad belief that this was my most anticipated game of 2015.

So that’s all for me, there are so many games coming out in 2015 and I have so little money, what games will you be picking up and why? Let us know in the comments!
